Proper goldfish care
Goldfish is a very attractive and delicate little pet. Being delicate it needs proper care because if proper care is not taken it may catch disease and fall sick. Taking care of a sick goldfish might become difficult. Everyone is aware of the pet that precaution is better than cure, so the best thing is to look after the needs and requirements of the goldfish and thus keep it healthy and stressless. A stressless goldfish has a good immune system and cannot catch disease easily.
If a goldfish is to keep the goldfish healthy it should be provided good environment and maintenance. It should be kept in plenty of clean cool water. Goldfish cannot stay healthy in very cold or very hot water. The temperature of water should not be more than 73 degrees Fahrenheit. High temperature may cause lower amount of oxygen for the fish hampering its health. 65 degrees- 68 degrees Fahrenheit is the most suitable for keeping goldfish stress free. To maintain this a thermometer should be kept. Low oxygen may cause nerve damage, heart damage or hamper its immune system to cause treatable or untreatable disease.
The quantity of water in which the goldfish is kept plays an important role in keeping it healthy. If it is kept in a small quantity of water, the oxygen in the water will be exhausted quickly. The discrete of goldfish will increase and form toxic and harmful acids in water. This will make the goldfish uncomfortable. A goldfish needs minimum 8 gallons of water. This water needs to be kept clean. 10-15% of the water should be changed weekly. This change helps to remove the waste discrete and decayed bacteria and germs from water.
Another very important thing is the filter used in the tank. A proper filter should be used to prevent the water from being toxic. Proper care should be taken to see that no current passes through the tank. It is well understood how harmful this can be for the delicate little beauty.
Food is a basic necessity for every living being. A goldfish can eat and eat and eat till you can give. This does not mean it needs a lot of food. Well it needs to be fed only once a day. Put food in to the tank, which it can consume in two minutes. This amount is sufficient for a healthy goldfish. If it is over-fed it will over dispose and this will damage the quality of water along with its health.
A goldfish knows very well that it is prey of other fishes so it feels safe and secure in hiding places. It is most comfortable in tank with 50-75% hiding space. Full care should be taken about not keeping anything sharp in the tank.
Last but not least the companion of the goldfish in the tank should be of a similar nature. If the companion fish is very aggressive it might cause hurt the very beautiful fins and tail of the goldfish, it might chase the goldfish and make it stressful or not allow the gold fish to take its share of food.
Keep in mind; goldfish are beautiful and very delicate living creatures. It is necessary to care for their pet and provide a healthy environment. So provide your goldfish space, clean, cool water, plenty of hiding places, and high-quality, high-carbohydrate food so that it lives long.
