Anchor Worm
This parasite is also called Lernea Elegans. This is a very common disease. This disease is not caused due to stress. Anchor worm is highly contagious. Treatment needs to be given not only to the goldfish infected but also to the entire tank. Anchor worm usually spreads by the introduction of an infected fish in to the tank.
Anchor worm can be diagnosed easily because it is visible. You don’t need a microscope to see it or identify it. Anchor worm does not move on the body of the goldfish, it sticks on to the body. When the larvae are on the body of the goldfish it flashes and scratches. This continues if treatment is not given.
It is very important to give treatment at an early stage of diagnose. Since the anchor worm is visible, the first thing to do is to remove it from the body of the goldfish with the help of tweezers. Now apply iodine or hydrogen Paraoxide with the help of a cotton swab on the spot. For perfect cure apply Neosporin cream.
The above treatment can be given if a new fish introduced into the tank is suffering from Anchor Worm. If the entire tank is infected Dimillin or Diflubenzoron can be used. Salt can also be used.
